Palo Santo is wood from a tree in South America called Bursera graveolens. Using Palo Santo as a part of spiritual practice can be traced back to the Incan Empire, almost 500 years ago. Today it is used all around the world as a way of cleansing negative energy with the smoke of Palo Santo.
 
Personally, I use this in my spiritual practices in the morning as a way of waking up my senses and relaxing my mind and body for journaling and meditation.
